Relocation can be stressful. There is a lot to be prepared and managed before and on a moving day. Although the moving companies exist to make it easier for you, transporting items from one place to another can be a hassle for them too. Therefore, a lot of cooperation is needed between you and the movers. There are certain things that your movers will tell you about their services, but there are some things they expect you to know to make the whole process easier on the final day.

Here is a list of things that your movers want you to know-

  1. Be Prepared: You might face some challenges on the final moving day. Although your movers will be prepared to get you out of any troubles, you should be ready on your end. If you are moving to another city, keep some drinkables and eatables with you. Have your essential documents handy. And if you have kids or pets, keep their necessary items in hand for a smooth ride.
  2. Finish Packing Beforehand: It might seem like a simple task to pack everything away. All you need to do is pick up every item in your home and put them in a box. But there is a difference between packing and proper packaging. Packing can take weeks if done nicely. Make sure all your items are packed before the movers come in, saving their time.
  3. Carry Valuables with Yourself: You are taking your items with you because you value them, and your movers understand that. However, you should not pack some items like jewelry, arts, and cash with the movers. Apart from sentiments, these items hold monetary value, and movers would not want them damaged. Moreover, most moving companies will not provide insurance for such high-value items.
  4. Label Boxes: It is important to label your moving boxes. Although labeling can be precise, complex, and color-coded, there are simple ways if you are Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. All you need to mark is what the carton holds, where it needs to go, and if it is fragile. If there are any other specific caring conditions for that particular box, you can mention that too and make it easier for your movers.
  5. Allow them Free Access: The movers will need to go in and out of your house multiple times. And anyone would hate asking to enter again and again just to do their job. Make it simple for your moving team and allow them access to every room in your home that has articles to be picked up.
  6. Keep Children and Pets Away: You need to keep your kids and pets away from getting in the way of movers. If your kids and pets keep running all around the place,  they will slow down the moving process and cause mishaps. It would be best to keep them away from the house and under a guardian’s care.
