Southwest Movers

Trying to move on your own is both stressful and dangerous, both to yourself and your property. It presents you with having to either use your mode of transportation, or hiring a moving truck, packing everything up, correctly loading the truck, driving it to your new home, and then unpacking a making sure everything is set up in your new home correctly. This presents you with having to plan out the move in its entirety.

To counteract this ordeal, most people handle a move by merely hiring a moving company to take care of everything for them. This is a great idea but comes with potential issues with the company you will be employing for the job. Southwest Movers wants to help you find the best possible movers for your job, and we have a few tips that should come in handy when determining if the moving company you are looking at is right for you.

Moving Inventory

First and foremost, how does the moving company begin the move? A reliable company will visit your home before the job starts to gauge the amount of property they will be relocating. They will also perform a walkthrough, being thorough, and asking about the preciousness of items, and finding which exits will be best when removing your goods.

References and Recommendations

A good company will have a good history, so look for references and recommendations acknowledging this. A friend will not tell you a company is good when it is not, and prior customers are more than happy to give their two cents about a company they have previously done business with, especially if they had a good or bad interaction with them.

Avoid a Large Deposit

Trustworthy moving companies will not demand that you pay in cash, or a large department before moving. You should only pay upon delivery. If you pay in advance, you have no control over when you will see your belongings again. When you do pay, use a credit card to help protect you from possible fraudulent activity.

Professional Company

Make sure the company in question bears all of the hallmarks of a professional company. That they are insured, in the case an unforeseeable accident occurs. Make sure the company’s mode of transporting your goods is a professional moving truck. You also want to take a look at the company’s background, i.e., how long they have been in business, and if they have multiple name changes. This will give you a better idea of the company’s reliability and professionalism.
