Leaving items behind that you have owned for many years is difficult. However, for the sake of everyone’s safety, you are supposed to get rid of some things instead of packing them for your move. Additionally, you will also reduce your moving company prices at the same time by decreasing the weight of your load. You can sell these items by putting up a yard or garage sale, or gifting them to your loved ones and friends.

Moving

If you are not taking the packing services of your hired Miami moving company, you may want to keep reading this blog and see what not to pack when moving.

#1- Household Cleaners: Most household cleaners are strong acids that can harm your property, the van, the moving personnel, and anyone that comes in contact with the chemical if they spill. Your residential moving company will guide you on what things you cannot pack for transportation through a moving van. It is a better option to dispose of household cleaners safely.

#2- Garden Chemicals: Pesticides, weedicides, fungicides, and fertilizers are all potent chemicals that can be harmful to humans. Garden chemicals also include swimming pool chemicals and propane tanks. These are highly flammable and not safe to transport with even the best long-distance movers. When packing your garden tools, get rid of the chemicals to ensure safe relocation.

#3- Perishable Items: Anything that will sustain damage in the hot environment of a moving van over a long period of time should not be packed with other items. Perishable items include living things like plants and pets, and edibles.

#4- Explosives: Any explosive items should not be transported in the back of the van as they may get heated and catch fire. These include ammunition, firearms, fireworks, and weapons.

#5- Medications: Keep some pain killers and other required medicines in your first-aid kit and throw away the extra ones before moving. If you have conditions for which you need to take medications daily, ask your pharmacist about instructions to move them properly. Medicines and pills can get spoiled if stored above a certain temperature which may render them unusable or even dangerous. If you can, switch your address to the new one and ask your pharmacist to deliver your medications directly there. If you are moving out of state, it’s best to find a new pharmacist.

#6- Essential Documents: You may need your identification cards, passport, moving papers, and other legal documents during the move. Keep them handy instead of packing them in the moving van. These papers are not redeemable, and the movers will not be liable if they get lost or damaged during the move.

#7- Valuable Articles: Anything expensive and irreplaceable should be transported in your personal vehicle and not in the moving van. Your local movers in Austin will ask you to keep antiques, heirlooms, jewelry, money, and legal documents with you to avoid losing them.
